Job Description

As a Production Manager at Zekelman Industries (Wheatland Tube division), you will play a key role in driving manufacturing excellence by supervising daily production activities and ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment, demonstrates strong leadership in developing front-line teams, and possesses a sharp focus on continuous improvement and operational safety.

Shift: Day Shift (~6 AM – 4 PM). Monday–Friday, Weekends as needed

Pay: $120,000 – $125,000 per year (plus Production Incentive)

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Promotes safety awareness and continuous improvement through active observations, coaching, and team engagement.
  • Drives plant quality objectives by verifying products meet customer and internal requirements through rigorous inspections.
  • Troubleshoots operational and equipment issues to enhance quality, efficiency, and machine uptime.
  • Facilitates training programs and develops front-line leaders using established curricula to support team growth.
  • Directs the hourly workforce effectively to meet production goals while administering discipline when required.
  • Manages daily staffing requirements, including reassignments, transfers, and overtime coverage.
  • Reviews daily operational reports and communicates issues to management to prevent production delays.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives and yield improvement projects to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Performs payroll and production system transactions accurately using computerized systems.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably with experience leading or managing employees in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills with the ability to coordinate efforts across multiple departments.
  • Sound decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and promote health and safety work practices in compliance with regulatory agencies and company policies.
  • Willingness to obtain First Aid and CPR responder training.

Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push, pull, and reach in all directions.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull as required by the role.
